Balenciaga AW16/17: Paris Fashion Week

Balenciaga and their very retro debut collection was seen on Sunday at Paris Fashion Week day6. Designs were twisted in their own wonderful way, as models wore knee-length skirts, cagoule-style jackets, taut ski pants, over-sized puffer jumpers, multi- floral patchwork dresses, padded scarves, including glittering earrings,  jeweled stilettos and over the knee PVC boots.

Founded by Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga the collection embodies simple chic, a collection to wear on a daily basis for the autumn/winter 2016 season. 34-year-old designer Demna Gvasalia presented the Balenciaga garments. He is known for his ‘wearable conceptual approach to 90s grunge and mainstream streetwear’

Gvasalia said: “It was the posture and the attitude, and Cristóbal’s way of working with the body I found interesting. Cristóbal was about the tailoring. I wanted a new way of finding that elegance for today, in a 360-degree way. I started by making a list of garments, which is what we do at Vetements. Like the shirt, the coat, the trench coat, the aviator, the floral dress, the sweater. Then we drape—I never do sketches”.
