A lavished, floral explosion appeared by Rei Kawakubo, for the brand Comme Des Garcons (French forLike the Boys) at Paris Fashion Week. When asked:
“Have you ever wondered what an 18th-century punk would look like?” she replied “You’re about to find out. The eighteenth century was a time of change and revolution. This is how I imagine punks would look like if they had lived in this century.”
The Japanese labels’ punk spirit and culture shines through. The designer used only haute fabrics for the collection including panniers, skirts, brocades, bustles, corsets, long sleeves and furry shoes for the fall/ winter 17 typically complicated assemblages. Pieces from Marie Antoinette’s closets?
